TECNO CBAM
The new environmental toll toward a NetZero future.
Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism, what is it?
CBAM, or the Border Carbon Adjustment Mechanism, is contained in EU Regulation 2023/956 and is part of Fit for 55, the international program to achieve carbon neutrality and combat climate change.
The new environmental tax is aimed at ensuring that efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions within the EU are not countered by a concomitant increase in emissions outside its borders, for goods produced in non-EU countries that are imported into the EU.
Under this mechanism, companies importing carbon-intensive goods produced in non-European countries must meet stringent burdens linked to CO2 emissions from the production of the imported goods until they are moved to the European border.
Adapt your business to CBAM obligations
CBAM, what are the obligations to be met?
Ours is a comprehensive support to companies and SMEs in developing strategies to facilitate the energy transition and benefit from the differentiated taxation provided by the ETD.
Implementation of the measure will take place in two stages:
A first transitional phase that, according to the current Regulations, will begin on October 1, 2023.
A second operational phase that will begin on January 1, 2026.
The CBAM will be applied to carbon-intensive goods listed in Annex I of the Regulations.
A ‘list that mainly includes:
Cement and cement products;
Electric power;
Mineral fertilizers and chemicals;
Iron and steel products;
Aluminum products;
Hydrogen.
This is a non-exhaustive list, as it is the Regulation itself that envisions an expansion of commodity categories by 2030.
Achievingcarbon neutrality is the first step toward a sustainable future.
Why choose a team of experts for CBAM charges
As of January 1, 2026, EU Regulation 2023/956 will become fully operational, and imports of goods covered by CBAM can only be carried out by so-called reporting companies, i.e., companies that comply with CBAM information and certification requirements.
We provide you with practical support throughout the measurement and calculation phase of the CO2 quantity, following you on the path to certification and registration in the CBAM Registry .
